Charlotte A. Klemp

Charlotte A. Klemp, 76, of Sumner, died Monday, October 15, 2012, at the Hillcrest Home in Sumner, following a short illness.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Friday, October 19, 2012, at Peace United Church of Christ in Fredericksburg with Rev. Burt Williams officiating. Interment will be at Bethel Cemetery, rural Hawkeye.  Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, October 18, 2012 at Becker-Milnes Funeral Home in Sumner and for one hour preceding services at the church on Friday.

Charlotte Ann Klemp, daughter of Theodore and Dorothy Martin Latham, was born November 13, 1935, in Fayette County, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed at the Methodist Church in Alpha. She attended school in Alpha and graduated from Alpha High school. She married Dick Schott in 1954. They divorced in 1970. On June 30, 1976, she was united in marriage with Maynard Klemp at the United Church of Christ in Wauzeka, Wisconsin. Charlotte had worked at Meinerz Creamery in Fredericksburg and also at the Sumner Bakery and Sumner Café. She enjoyed crocheting and gardening. She especially enjoyed making baby booties, christening gowns, and making rugs out of plastic grocery bags.

Charlotte is survived by six children, Teddy (Judy) Schott of Fredericksburg, Robert Schott of New Hampton, Terry Schott of Fredericksburg, Jeff (Sheryl) Schott of Cedar Falls, Deanna Jarchow of Sumner, and Gary Schott of Maynard; twelve grandchildren; six great grandchildren; two sisters, Joan (Curtis) McCallum of Hawkeye and Susanne (Clete) Moser of Alpha; six step children, Vickie, Rick, Cindy, Mark, Mary, and Jeff; and several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Maynard, who died November 28, 2010; her parents; one great grandson, Keaton Titus; her son-in-law, Bruce Jarchow; and an infant sister, Teddy Marie.
